How to Choose a Hotel Stay Worth Booking

Compare hotels on the things that matter: location, recent reviews, what is really included, and how loyalty rewards actually stack up.

Choosing a hotel is rarely about the star rating. Two properties with the same label can deliver very different stays, so it pays to compare a few specific things before you book.

Start with location. Look at the map rather than the neighbourhood name — check what is actually within walking distance of where you need to be, and how you would get around if it is not.

Then read recent reviews with a filter. Look for patterns rather than individual complaints: repeated mentions of noise, cleanliness or staff tend to be reliable signals.

Compare what is included, not just the nightly rate. Breakfast, parking, resort fees and cancellation terms can change the real cost of a stay considerably.

If you are weighing up a loyalty programme, understand what you are actually earning. Rewards schemes vary a lot, and a room rate that earns points may still cost more than a cheaper alternative nearby.
